Effect of Metabolic Shock Induced by 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose on the Murine Immune Response

Abstract

|
glucose(2-DG) administration, on contact hypersensitivity(CH) induced by dinitrofluorobenzence(DNFB), delayed-type hypersensitivity(DTH) induced-by sheep red blood cells (SRBC), and antibody formation against SRBC in BALB /c mice. The results showed that single injection induced a pronounced suppression of cell-mediated immunity(CMI) measured by CH and DTH, but did not induce suppression in antibody production. The sup= pression of CMI induced by 2-DG administration was dose-dependent, however, repeated injections of 2-DG showed attenuation in it´s suppressive activity of CMI.
